The names are engraved not alphabetically but in chronological order, therefore those who died together in battle are forever together on the wall. The names of the first casualties (in July 1959) appear on the first line of panel 1 East below the date “1959”. The chronological listing of the names proceeds line by line down the first panel to the bottom then continues on the top line of panel 2 East. The listing moves down each panel in turn as though the panels were pages in a book. The sequence of names moves from panel 70 East to panel 70 West. The listing proceeds down each panel moving from 70 West to 1 West. The names of the last casualties (in May 1975) forms the last line on panel 1 West above the date “1975”. A diamond is engraved next to the names of confirmed casualties. A cross + is engraved next to the names of those still missing. Included with the Replica is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Directory of Names. This is the same directory used at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. It contains the names on the memorial in alphabetical order. Each letter is accurately engraved in cultured granite making the replica a permanent memorial and allows for pencil rubbings, a popular activity at The Wall in Washington D.C. Included with each replica is a beautiful 18´x 32´ engraving which describes the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. and the replica. A portion of each wall sold is contributed to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
